Trust (version 1)
the title of my work for my master's degree was trust. the first version of this work consisted of three monochrome silk screen prints (70 x 100 cm each) with scratch lacquer and an unknown layer underneath. the work was displayed hanging on the wall during the exhibition of my master's exam. The prints were left unprotected and visitors could leave marks.
Trust (version 2)
i also made a second version of trust with the same dimensions. i installed a monochrome silk screen print with scratch lacquer and an unknown layer under a closed acrylic frame. this time, you couldn't touch the surface of this object, just as you often cannot touch the art.
sensual talk – in berlin gibt es nur emoji palmen
sensual talk–in berlin gibt es nur emoji palmen (sensual talk–in berlin there are only emoji palms) was a work of four palm trees. the wall objects were 140 cm tall and made out of fabric. all four works were made by one tailor.
siblings
siblings was a commission work given by me to five different tailors. each tailor was instructed to sew one simplified egg on a 100 x 100 cm padded wood panel. i provided detailed instructions, patterns and materials to each of the tailors.
unterwegs in deutschland
my bachelor project was titled unterwegs in deutschland (on the road in germany). it was inspired by three things i experienced at this time.
the first inspiration was a much hyped social media trend showing pictures of coffee-to-go-cups. The second inspiration was a growing awareness of how business travel has become a common practice perceived to embody freedom and importance. the third inspiration was my exam, which required me to prove 'systematic orientation.'
for the work, i bought a children's puzzle. i drew a point-to-point game onto the puzzle in the shape of a coffee-to-go cup. each point of the game was assigned to the nearest city on the puzzle. i then traveled to these cities by different modes of transportation: train / plane / bike, just like the different shaped puzzle pieces, just to have a coffee-to-go.
i partnered on the work with gesa hüwe, who was finishing her exams at the same time to become a teacher. she wrote a text and performed it as an art guide.
the final exhibition included a vitrine, a trash can (the used cups in it had been emptied by the cleaning team the day before the exam), an audioguide with gesa hüwe's lecture, and a table with fresh coffee-to-go in a coffee urn.
ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst
at a discount grocery in berlin i did a legal intervention sponsored by andré media group. i turned the shopping cart advertising boards and the posters on the dividers at the cash register into blank spaces. i handed out white cards with the title and the duration of the exhibition to the customers. the intervention was called ich sehe was, was du nicht siehst (i spy with my little eye).
fsk 0
in an off-space in düsseldorf i exhibited my first 3d wall objects, in an exhibition called soft conversation. the works were made of fabric and placed on a wooden square, with motifs inspired by emojis. the title of the group of works was fsk 0 (rated for age 0).
leerverkauf
for a full month i opened a store on berlin's brunnenstraße 3 with nothing but empty boxes. it was called leerverkauf (short sell). the only thing i offered to buy was a security on me and my success as an artist. if i would do the same project again, i would rent the store, leave it completely empty, sell nothing, and would just install a sign with "store" above the entrance.
